The Full Story

Annex by Black River Barn started as a simple idea in 2020 by co-owners and siblings, Nicole and James Slott, to add more variety for locations to host smaller events.

Annex by BRB boasts a streamlined interior design, featuring a pair of windowed garage doors that open to the street, allowing guests to enjoy the natural light and embrace the outdoors during warmer weather. The venue is thoughtfully equipped with round tables, chairs, and a mobile bar that can be easily configured to meet the specific needs of any gathering. For added convenience, the venue includes a simple prep kitchen, while guests have the freedom to bring in their own food, arrange for delivery, or coordinate catering.

"We began the search for this space during the pandemic, as we were confident that the events business would bounce back quickly,” said James Slott, co-owner of Annex by BRB. “Once this location became available, we knew it was the perfect size and aesthetic we were trying to achieve, timeless and classic."

The co-owners, are no strangers to South Haven's event landscape. Their first venture, Black River Barn, opened in 2020. The success of the state-of-the-art wedding and event venue laid the foundation for the dream of expanding their offerings with a sister location like Annex by BRB.

"Opening a sister location to Black River Barn has been a dream of ours since we opened in 2020,” added Nicole Slott. “We knew that we wanted it to be close to downtown South Haven with an opportunity to cater to smaller groups. This space pairs perfectly with our pre-existing business, offering our Black River Barn clients a new option for rehearsal dinners or post-wedding brunches."

The Annex's location in the heart of downtown South Haven provides guests with easy access to all the charm and amenities the city has to offer. Parking is conveniently available in the adjacent public lot and on the street, ensuring a hassle-free experience for attendees.
